Our award winning VET in Schools courses allow students in Year 11 & 12 to obtain a Make-up and Beauty qualification whilst completing their secondary VCE or VCAL education and following Year 12 – further study pathways to the SHB50115 Diploma of Beauty Therapy and Dermal Therapy Bachelor Degree courses.

Students travel from throughout Victoria to attend our VET Beauty classes which are held in our state-of-the-art city campus every Wednesday from 9.15am to 4.30pm.
Our VET Beauty courses are designed for students to commence in Year 11 which allows continuation into Year 12 to complete both the Certificate II and Certificate III qualifications.
Students commence with the SHB20116 Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics course in the first year and may choose to continue in the second year with the SHB30115 Certificate III in Beauty Services course.
SHB20116 CERTIFICATE II IN RETAIL COSMETICS – 1st year
-Classes held: Wednesdays 9.15am to 4.30pm from February to November
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who are competent in communicating in the workplace, interacting with customers, demonstrating and selling make-up and retail skin care products, and performing routine salon or store functions. The qualification is designed to reflect the role of persons who perform a prescribed range of functions under supervision, involving known routines and procedures and with some accountability for the quality of outcomes. You will learn practical skills to deliver a variety of make-up looks including make-up for day, evening, bridal, fashion and glamour occasions.
Students attend elly lukas 1 day per week and can complete this qualification in 1 year. Students who successfully complete this 1st year of study may then progress into the 2nd year of study which is the SHB30115 Certificate III in Beauty Services. Students must successfully complete the 1st year of study (i.e. complete the SHB20116 Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics course) and will receive Credit Transfer for completed units towards the SHB30115 Certificate III in Beauty Services which can be completed in the 2nd year of study. Alternatively, students can elect to exit after completing the 1st year and graduate with the SHB20116 Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics qualification.
Credit in VCE or VCAL: recognition of up to five units at Units 1 and 2 level
SHB30115 CERTIFICATE III IN BEAUTY SERVICES – 2nd year
Classes held: Wednesdays 9.15am to 4.30pm from February to November
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who are competent in interacting with customers, providing a range of beauty services which may include make-up, waxing, nail technology, lash and brow treatments, and demonstrating and selling retail skin care and other cosmetic products. Work would be undertaken in beauty therapy salons and in the wider beauty industry. This qualification is designed to reflect the role of those who perform some complex or non-routine activities involving individual responsibility or autonomy or collaboration with others as part of a team.
Credit in VCE or VCAL: recognition of up to four units at Units 1 and 2 level and a Units 3 and 4 sequence.
Students who receive a Units 3 and 4 sequence for SHB30115 Certificate III in Beauty Services from the VCE VET Hair and Beauty program will be eligible for an increment towards their ATAR (10% of the lowest study score of the primary four studies).
The increment is awarded by the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC).

Enrolment in our VET / VCAL programs is restricted to students who attend secondary schools who have entered into a VET Purchasing Contract agreement with elly lukas. Secondary schools who would like their students to participate in our VET programs should contact the College Course Advisor for further details.
Interested applicants (and their Parents / Guardians) should discuss the above options with their Secondary School VCE, VCAL or Pathway Coordinator.

During the interview / tour arrangements will be made for applicants to complete course observation.
Following successful observation, applicants may lodge their yellow enrolment form directly to elly lukas College and must advise their secondary school VET / VCAL Pathways Coordinator of their enrolment.

Career Whilst at School
Be inspired by our VET Beauty students who have started their Make-up and Beauty careers whilst completing Years 11 & 12.
Applicants must be attending secondary school in Years 11 or 12 when commencing this course.
1. Interview, College Tour and Course Observation
Phone the College on 9923 8888 to book in for a day to visit the College with a Parent/Guardian/Family Member.
These appointments are held at 10am each day.
Please be dressed like you are going to a job interview (we suggest all black clothing, closed toe flat shoes wearing day makeup and hair up).
After the Interview and College Tour, you will be invited to spend some time in a class to observe the classes in action.
2. Secondary School
Discuss your intention to attend elly lukas with your Secondary School VET/VCAL coordinator. They must approve your enrolment and we must have a signed agreement with your Secondary College. Please provide us with the name and email address of the relevant contact at your Secondary College.
Some Secondary Colleges may also make a contribution towards the course tuition fees.
Secondary Schools allow for a full ‘VET’ day on the Wednesday (in which their Students participate in VET programs), some do not – please discuss these matters with your Secondary School.
After the above steps have been completed, you are then welcome to lodge your yellow enrolment form together with required identification documents (Passport/Birth Certificate etc) USI number and 1st required payment. Upon receipt of all requirements a place in the course is then allocated to you.
What are the out of pocket costs?
SHB20116 Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics Tuition : $2950 Materials/equipment/make-up kit : $1000
Please note that some Secondary Colleges can make a contribution towards the course tuition fees – please check with your Schools VET/VCAL Coordinator to determine your Schools policy.
What are the payment options?
The materials/equipment/makeup kit cost of $1000 is usually paid by the applicant upon enrolment.
The tuition fee is paid upon course commencement.

How much do I have to pay to get started?
There is no cost or obligation to participate in course observation.
